Kitu Meow-Meow /aka/ Flump (the fur lump) Underfoot

Adopted him from Richardson Animal Shelter 3 weeks ago & we couldn't adore this little menace more.

Our experience was that the staff knew the animals in their care well & prioritized getting them into loving homes above all else. The facility was under construction when we visited but the animals & their rooms were clean and well kept. Didn't hear a cough or sneeze once during two visits!

Kitu / Flump is healthy, adjusting well, and such an excellent addition to our family.

Since bringing him home almost a month ago, we've learned he likes to chase his tail, has a "kick spot," prefers a water bottle cap to any other toy, enjoys sleeping upside down, is a major snugglebug, and he is absolutely under-foot 100% of the time.

He's a clown & total doofus. Can't wait to love him for years to come.

I visited this shelter today and I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. I was promptly guided into the viewing area. I’m glad all the dogs have indoor and outdoor visitation. I’m hoping to be chosen for the doggy day out! And in the future when I am able to have a dog, this will be my first stop to find my new friend. Until then, im hoping I can volunteer.

Highly recommend! The staff is always so personable and welcoming. The adoption process is not difficult. You don’t have to jump through loops and hoops to adopt. My second time here and no regrets.

So I haven’t taken my dogs here but as an animal lover I have to give huge kudos to them. I found a sweet dog on the Richardson dallas border and since it was in dallas they couldn’t take him in. Dallas was zero help and didn’t even answer the phone, they in fact just had an automated line that hangs up on you. Hailey took down the microchip number. Got in touch with the owner immediately and got her connected with me. He was safely returned to his elated owner and didn’t have to go to the dallas pound. Thank yall so much for your help!

The people that I came across today are some of the most disgusting and rude people I’ve ever met in my life. I cannot believe they work in animal services. A friend of mine found a dog in Richardson and I tried to turn him in. I kept him for a full day, but could not locate who he belong to When I tried to turn him into Richardson Animal services all they did was hound me and make me jump through hoops to try to turn him in. They were asking me for exact addresses as if we had a pen and pad when we were chasing him down and we’re requesting that the friend that found him bring him in. It is over 100° currently and they are playing semantics with where he was found and are trying to make me bend over backwards to prove that he belongs at RAS.Everyone wonders why there is such a bad stray problem in the area when there are people like this working. They were incredibly rude, and there was absolutely no graciousness in their voices. I wouldn’t wish that encounter on anyone trying To improve a bad situation for an animal that didn’t deserve to be where he was. I was already very upset about the situation, but left in complete tears. I would hate to see how they treat the other people that go in In more precarious situations. this wasn’t even my dog and they treated me like trash i would hate to imagine how they treat owner surrenders.

I will definitely be following up through the proper channels about this encounter.

Richardson Animal Shelter is hands down the best place to find a new member of your family. No place I’ve checked out is as thorough as them when it comes to information about the animals. You know instantly when talking with the staff that they care about the animals and their clients. I am awful with names, but we were helped by a very nice lady and gentleman that both went above and beyond to help us in selecting our perfect dog. Whatever the animal is you want to add to your family, dog, cat, bunny, Guinea pig, etc, they will help you. Go in and get your new buddy because when you rescue them it means so much more to that animal because you just might have saved their life.
