I recently ordered a new Thule cargo box from REI in Marina del Rey, and I have to say, the experience was nothing short of amazing. When I came to pick it up, the staff went above and beyond to help me get it onto my roof rack, ensuring I could install it easily.

The level of service I received reminded me why I keep coming back to REI: it's not just a store; it's a community of people who genuinely care.

⚠️Validate your parking⚠️

Stopped by to look at some kayak paddles, but to my surprise, they only had two paddles in stock. TWO KAYAK PADDLES, in an REI CO-OP!

They had little to no kayak or SUP accessories in stock. The employee who helped me was helpful and apologetic, but it’s disappointing to see a place like REI not having anything kayak-related in stock.

I came in trying to exchange a lightly used and very overpriced camping pad that had a slow leak in it, the cashier was polite. One of the employees working on the floor was really fake and had terrible customer service, a lot of tattoos was really rude and avoided helping me out. Likely will not return or ever buy anything from this store.

What are the chances that REI customers are also dog people? I was very disappointed to see a “no pets” sign. In this day and age dogs are allowed even in grocery stores and restaurants. I wanted to support my local store but ended up spending my money on Amazon.

Needed new bike shorts and liners. Ride by this store on the way to work each weekday. Thought I’d pop in and get some new bike shorts on the way home. Useless stop. No help from the staff. Let me walk in, linger around the bike area, walk out without a word. Also, there was virtually no one in the store at 5 ish on a weekday. Anyway, they had 3 pairs of extra large and a small in one style. Bailed. Rode home and bought what I needed online from another company. Been a member of REÍ for too long and I’m not sure why I bother going there.

REI Marina Del Rey Review: A Little Slice of Outdoor Heaven

Let me tell you about REI in Marina Del Rey – it's like a mini-vacation with shopping bags! Situated right by the marina, this store is as picturesque as they come. You've got boats and water as your backdrop while you're checking out the latest outdoor gear. It's so chill and pretty, it almost feels like you're shopping on vacation.

Parking can be a bit of a juggle, as their lot isn’t huge. But don’t sweat it; there are other lots nearby that won’t break the bank and, honestly, the short walk over is part of the charm. You get to soak in those marina views, and it’s totally worth it.

The store itself might not be the biggest REI around, but it's like they've packed all the good stuff into a cozier space. They've got everything from cool camping gadgets to the comfiest hiking boots. And if you can't find what you're looking for, just order it online and pick it up at the store. Easy peasy.

What I really love about this place is how they make everyone feel welcome. The restrooms are gender-neutral and have baby changing stations – so progressive and thoughtful.

And guess what? There’s a Trader Joe's right next door. So, you can gear up for your next hike and grab some snacks all in one go.

In short, REI Marina Del Rey is more than just a store – it's a little oasis for outdoor lovers. It’s got a relaxed vibe, great stuff, and an awesome view. It's like they took an REI and dropped it in the middle of a beach holiday. If you're in the area and need some outdoor gear (or just want to feel like you're on a mini getaway), this is the place to be.

Shout out to the ski tech team, especially Thomas, Mike and Maria. They handled a frustrating experience with my new Salomon skis with grace and I really appreciated the ownership they took when the ball was dropped, even though it wasn’t their fault but Salomon’s. Thanks for the service and getting me on my skis in time for the opening of Mammoth.

Wonderful new store with anything and everything you can think of for the outdoors. It's also great that they have a full-service bike-shop as well, very convenient if you live nearby, and especially since the bike path runs right by it (smart due diligence on their part!, ?). Found some interesting things for the camping world that I didn't know even existed, so I had to take a picture of that (posted). Only disappointing thing is that I thought it was a 2-story building with more things to shop on the second floor, but no: one story with dramatic-height-ceilings. ?
